How is the payment calculated?

It uses the standard amortizing loan formula: the periodic rate is the annual rate divided by the number of payments a year, and the payment is set so the loan is fully repaid at the end of the term. Most term loans, SBA loans and equipment loans work this way. Lines of credit, merchant cash advances and revenue based financing do not; use the true cost calculator for factor rate products.

What rate should I enter?

Use the rate on your offer if you have one. Otherwise use a typical range from business loan rates explained: banks and credit unions 7% to 12%, SBA 7(a) about 10% to 13.5% in 2026, online term lenders 12% to 30%, equipment 6% to 25%. Fees such as origination are not in the rate; add them to the total cost when you compare offers.

Estimates only. Your lender's offer sets the actual rate, fees and terms.
