How to use the outline

Fill in your facts, build the outline, and paste it into a document. Then expand each section with specifics: names, dates, prices, contracts, and numbers that match your bank statements and tax returns. A lender compares the plan against your documents, so every figure in the plan must be one they can find elsewhere in your file. Our guide to writing a business plan for a loan covers what each section needs, and the SBA business plan template covers the SBA specifics.

How to use the prompt

Copy the prompt into Claude or ChatGPT and attach your bank statements, tax returns and year to date financials. The prompt tells the assistant to use only your facts and documents, to ask rather than invent when something is missing, and to list every number it used so you can check each one. Then build the 12 month projection and attach it. More prompts are in ChatGPT and Claude prompts for a lender ready plan.

What lenders will check against the plan

Revenue and profit against your tax returns and bank statements. The use of funds against quotes and purchase agreements. Owner experience against your resume and licenses. The projected growth against your trend and your industry. Repayment against the debt service coverage ratio, usually 1.25 for banks and 1.15 for SBA. A plan that says less but matches the documents beats a long plan that does not.

Estimates and drafts only. Your lender's offer sets the actual terms, and you are responsible for every number in a plan you submit.
